The weekend in review – working at the lake.

0

This was a weekend for working at the lake.  It was deck building time.  James helped (okay designed, procured, and implemented) me to build a deck on the back of the lake house.  It has been a long time coming and we’re not quite done yet – we’ve still got the decking, the rails, and the stairs to go.  James has build many decks, the most famous of which was used as a foundation for a house instead of putting in concrete!  I learned a lot and jumped in with both feet once he showed me what to do I fired up the saw and the  drill and we came out with a pretty nice product.  Now to get back to finish it up – unless James does that all by himself while we’re on vacation.

We didn’t have much time to spend on the dock and we didn’t even put the boat in the water (working weekend, remember) but I did carry the camera down to the dock and snapped a shot of my guard.  He was on the bumper along side the dock.  He sitting on top of his earlier prey – a reminder to those who might trespass.

Click here for an even larger creepier version of this guy…

I’ve never done any macro photography but this guy was big and was willing to sit still for me unlike most of my models.  Since I’ve not done macro I just took a stab at it and got close to him, probably too close!   I was only a few inches away and thinking – "if he jumps on my face, I better get a clear shot of him in the air or it ain’t worth it!".   He didn’t jump…thank God.
