Day 8 – Snake River Float trip, Laundry, and bison at John Moulton’s barn

We’re at the Spring Creek Ranch just outside of Jackson, WY.  We have an amazing view of the Teton (look up the French translation) Mountains out our back door.

Today we hit the Snake River on a float trip.  It was kind of cold but the scenery was beautiful and since we were on the early trip, we saw some wildlife along the way too.  This was not a whitewater trip – it was just a nice float down the river with no water in the boat.  We actually had carpet in the bottom of the raft!   The guide was Grant Bishop.  Grant works in the summer as a guide in Wyoming and then moves to West Virginia to the New and GulleyRiver in the fall.  He was full of information, stories, jokes and BS – all the stuff that makes a good guide.

Here are the pics from the Snake River float trip.

Even better Bald Eagle pic than the one in Yellowstone

It was laundry day too – you can only take so many clothes in a Honda’s trunk so we had to take time to do some parallel processing of clothes – 4 or 5 loads in the time of one.  We should all have 5 washers and dryers, it would save so much time.

Vacation is not all fun…

I went to look for John Moulton’s famous Mormon homesteader’s barn – Google it and find a million pictures of it.  I went the wrong time of day so I didn’t get anything worthwhile but I found myself in the middle of a huge herd of bison right next to the farm.  I had to make lemonade from lemons and I was able to get a few nice bison shots.  I’ll try and get back earlier in the day to get some shots before we leave.   Here are the bison though.

Tomorrow a balloon ride for Julie and my 21st anniversary and then a horseback ride.
