The road to Hana is a bit of legend around here. The locals all talk about how “adventurous” the drive is to Hana. There are over 600 curves and more than 50 one lane bridges and most the the drive is along a drop off into the ocean. Yeah, it’s fifty some miles into the mountains and everything but I’ve got to tell you – it’s pretty much everyday driving you’d find in Eastern Tennessee. Most of the drive seemed just like we were headed to Norris lake in mid summer. There were rain storms, heat (85 degrees
) wet roads, and everything was green but that’s where the similarities end. The road to Hana had some views that you can’t get in Tennessee at any price.
Along the road to Hana
Waulee Falls
In Hauleakala National Park where the 7 pools reach the ocean
Looking west over the Pacific
Black Sand Beach - maybe my favorite place along the way.
