3D Photos

The good people over at Photojojo have a really cool article about 3D photos – something that create an effect a lot like stereoscopic photography from the turn of the 19th century.  They’ve just shown us how to brought the idea to the net!

My family has a bunch of the old stereoscopic photos in a cabinet and a viewer or two.  I can remember being amazed by them as a kid.  I really need to get those pictures back out!    Before television and even before railroad travel was common, stereoscopic photos were the best way for the “common man” to see the world.  Today you can still pick up stereoscopic images at antique stores for cheap.  I’ve seen them in bins for only 50 cents each.  Below is the example from Photojojo.   The article on Photojojo provides some nice links to examples of how you can do this too.  Good luck, I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
