Ohio Strobist Meet-Up – Tomorrow!
I’ve been working on setting up an Ohio Strobist Meet-up. The idea is to create the opportunity for lots of photographers and models to get together and create some great images. The primary goal is learning. The secondary goal is to create some images that people can use in their portfolios.
The meet-up has come together and it is scheduled for tomorrow in Columbus, OH. The response to the meet-up has been amazing. At the point I had to cut off the registration due to the size of the studio we’ll be shooting in we have 18 photographers, 11 models and 2 make up artist scheduled to attend. Everyone seems very excited for the shoot and I hope it goes off without a hitch.
Our location is a music recording studio so we’ll have a musical theme and lots of props to go with that theme. The plan is to set up 5 different shoots in the studio lead by advanced photographers. The models and other photographers will spend half the time at the shoot working through these individual shoots and learning how they work. The second half will be free form and everyone will shoot whatever they’d like.
I’ll be setting up with a white seamless back drop and shooting in that style.
This meet-up wouldn’t have been possible with out two very important people. First Frank Tuttle of Tuttleimages.com who has been amazing and has done sooo much of the heavy lifting in Columbus. Second Moishe Appleblaum of MidWest Photo Exchange (MPEX). Moishe has been incredibly generous with us. MPEX is coving a significant portion of the studio rental and providing lots of gear for us to try out during the shoot. Thank you both for all that you’ve done – you’re amazing people and I owe you both a beer!
I can’t wait to see what we create tomorrow. I’ll post the updates and pictures as soon as I can!
