Ohio Strobist Meet-Up Wrap Up

Over the last few months I’ve been working to organize a photographers meet-up. I was planned in conjunction with the OH Strobist Flickr Group and some wonderful people from the Columbus, OH area. I’m happy to report we were able to pull it off and even exceed my expectations. I think we really pulled off the point of the Strobist community; sharing, learning, and growing our photographic knowledge of Off Camera Flash (OCF) and making some great pictures along the way.
I would like to thank everyone who came out to the Ohio Strobist meet-up in Columbus on Saturday November 14th, at Central City Recording. Having recording studio as a location gave us the opportunity to have a musical theme and I think we made the most of it.There were 23 photographers, models, makeup artist in attendance and everyone had a great time.
Sticking with our theme, we setup 5 “venues” (shots) and each with a “venue manager” (advanced photographer) who explained and taught how to accomplish a particular shot/setup. The remaining photographers and models moved from venue to venue and everyone got to shoot in several different styles and with all the models. I did the white seamless shots and the pics here are some of my results.
Special thanks to the guys who did the work of being a venue manager, it was not easy work but you helped people more than you can probably imagine. It was a full 5+ hours of amazing learning and fun.
I could never have pulled off this meet-up without the help of a couple special people – Frank Tuttle of Tuttleimages.com and to and to Moishe Appelbaum of Midwest Photo Exchange (MPEX).
Frank worked amazingly hard to get the models organized and Moishe helped to cover studio rental and loaned us some amazing gear to try out. Thank you both for all you did to make this happen.
