A friend and fellow photographer and I had the opportunity to shoot a local young and rising model Brandi (brandidandee@gmail.com). The shoot was held at a local state park.
I brought along a Alien Bee AB800 strobe/monolight, a beauty dish, a Vagabond power supply and a Kacey Pole Adaptor to hold it all together. The Kacey Pole adaptor was kind of the missing link for me that makes bringing studio gear into the field manageable.
We worked with Brandi primarily at a single site in the park but that site provided a lot of different looks all within a few hundred feet. We had a bridge, logs on the water, groves of water plants and steps that led to the water.
The following shots were all made with the setup described above with Dave holding the Alien Bee on a pole and Brandi doing her magic. Brandi will soon be on Model Mayhem and you can look her up if you’d like to work with her.
