I’ve been doing some product photography and though I’d share my setup for a wine bottle shot. This should be a good practice run for a job I recently quoted.
This is the final photo. It would be used in an online website catalog. The job I quoted isn’t wine but it’s similar in nature – both in general shape and reflectiveness.
My process was to set the front light as my main and light the front of the bottle. and then add in the strip boxes one at a time. I ended up with the pointed a bit forward to get the reflection positioned where I liked it.
UPDATE
By elevating the bottle I was able to resolve the issue of the edge-lights only dropping down about 2/3 of the bottle… this is a reflective angle of incidence issue. that was easily resolve by raising the bottle and adjusting the aim for the front light. The result is this…
