A friend and fellow photographer and I had the opportunity to shoot a local young and rising model Brandi. The shoot held at a local state park.  I brought along a Alien Bee AB800 strobe/monolight, a beauty dish, a Vagabond power supply and  a Kacey Pole Adaptor to hold it all together.  The Kacey Pole [...]

One of my favorite photographers work to follow is Joel Grimes.  Joels is pretty famous for his “three point lighting” setup of models, athletes, musicians, or other characters mixed with a HDR background.  I really enjoy the look of Joels three point lighting work because it is different than most and because for me, it [...]

I had the pleasure of photographing Allison for her senior portraits. She is a really sweet young lady with a wonderful future ahead of her.  She had lots of fun doing her senior photo shoot. She was quick to “strike a pose” and was just beautiful in her yellow senior high prom dress.
All [...]

I recently created head shots for a local office of a Fortune 100 company for use in their literature, organization charts and such.  My job was to shoot a group people in management throughout the group.  The shots were not glamorous, just straight forward business head shots.   I needed to shoot a torso up [...]

Here are a few B/W pics from the pin-up shoot.  Using black and white pictures seem  important to me when shooting this style picture.  The last one isn’t really 100% black and white but it has an old photos style look that I enjoy.

The processing in the shot below was accomplished using a [...]

One of the goals that I had during the Pin Up shoot last weekend was to create a “Fantasy Moon Pin Up” image and I was able to complete that goal.   Below is the final result.  I’m pretty happy with the final image.

I experimented with the final processing in different colors and tones but [...]

Sorry that I’ve not been active posting for some time.  I’ve got a huge project in the works and it’s been taking almost every free moment.  I hope to make it public in the next month or so.  So stay tuned, it’s gonna be good!
That said, sometimes you’ve just got to take time and [...]

I don’t shoot black and white very often but sometimes it’s just the best option, even for me.  This shot of Tiki our Yorkie.  He was taking a nap while laying in the sun, something we don’t see much of this time of year.  He was enjoying it as I got ready to go [...]

I worked with Mike H. (MM# 1436925) to create some Sportrait (Sports Portrait) shots.  The weather didn’t allow for outside shooting so we did a simple back drop and created some hard edge light shots using strip boxes with grids and a large umbrella fill.  We used a fold out black backdrop and exploited the [...]
